It will be the third pre-season fixture of the season after a win and a loss against Derby and QPR respectively but Solskjaer will have some of his first-team regulars back in time for the encounter with Brentford.
Thomas Frank’s entertaining side, who are set to embark on a first Premier League campaign after winning promotion through the Championship play-off, are ahead in pre-season preparations and are likely to be sharper than United.
Nemanja Matic played in both pre-season games so far and urged his teammates to improve after the drab 4-2 loss to QPR earlier this week. The 32-year-old has previewed Wednesday evening’s clash with Brentford, insisting that the game will be a good opportunity to show improvement.
“On Wednesday, we have another good match, against Brentford, so we have to keep working to see where we can improve,” Matic is quoted as saying by the official Manchester United website.
“We still have a lot of friendlies to play before the season starts and hopefully we will be ready for the Leeds game.”
The former Serbia international is one of the more senior players in the squad and is likely to feature in the game, with Paul Pogba and Fred being notable absentees in midfield.
