Barcelona defender Nélson Semedo has spoken publicly for the first time about his training ground bust-up with Neymar.

Semedo joined Barça in a €30 million summer switch from Benfica and quickly made headlines following an angry clash with Neymar shortly before the Brazilian left to join Paris Saint-Germain.

And though the Portuguese full-back admits he was left annoyed by the incident, he denies it had anything to do with Neymar’s desire to leave the club.

“At the time it really annoyed me,” Semedo told Portuguese outlet Mais Futebol.

“I had only arrived at the club and one of the most important players was in a fight with me, and at the time I had no idea he wished to leave, he was in a difficult moment.

“Everybody else in the squad had expected the move but it came as a shock to me, just as it did for the club’s fans.

“The incident did not set me back, and these things happen in training and I had the support of my teammates and my friends.”
