Nélson Semedo has admitted that Wolves manager Nuno Espírito Santo was a major factor in his decision to join from Barcelona.
The 26-year-old Lisbon native recently made the switch to the Premier League side for an initial fee of €30m.
Molineux obviously lacks the prestige of the Nou Camp, but Semedo felt that Nuno’s belief in him would help get the career back on track after a difficult time in Catalonia.
“He (Nuno) was also important because I felt I would be valued here,” Semedo said, per the Express and Star newspaper.
“I felt that Nuno really wanted me here and it is also very important to know that there are people who value you like you deserve.
“That also influenced my decision quite positively.”
Semedo was also attracted to the Midlands by the prospect of reuniting with familiar faces from club and international level.
“It influenced me because they are top players that I know and that I am with many times in the national team.
“I was with Raúl (Jiménez) in Benfica as well and yes, these people helped me make a decision, but I also know that Wolverhampton is a great team, a very important team in the UK and in Europe as well, where it is growing quite a lot.”
Semedo is likely to make his home debut for Wolves when Fulham visit on Sunday.
