Manchester City’s leaked 2025/26 third kit has caused quite a stir among supporters on Tuesday following its emergence on social media.
It is the third kit to be issued to supporters ahead of the start of the new season, albeit unreleased, after club officials launched their brand new home shirt and a special edition for the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup.
The brand new home shirt has once again taken on a bold design element – a common theme among Puma releases since the start of their Manchester City partnership and sponsorship in 2019.
For the first time in the club’s history, the traditional sky blue and white home strip features a sash graphic emblazoned across the front of the shirt worn by all of Manchester City’s men’s, women’s and youth teams.
As for the special edition released which was donned for the first time against Al Ain at the FIFA Club World Cup on Sunday night, a predominantly white strip features a black and red sash, with a ‘Poznan’ inspired graphic discretely embedded across the front of the shirt.
But the biggest talking point on the kit front will no doubt be the third shirt, and leaked images of the design have already caused a major stir online among Manchester City fans and football supporters as a whole.
After new images surfaced on Tuesday, one user wrote on X, “Whoever designed them signed off this kit needs sacking,” following other reactions from City supporters including, “That shirt is absolute horror. Surely the designers could have done better,” and “So atrocious”.
Manchester City fan and content creator Steven Mcinerney wrote in response to the latest images, “Genuinely feels cruel making anyone wear this. Hands down the worst City kit I’ve ever seen by an absolute mile.”
Amos Murphy – sports writer, podcaster, and Manchester City fan – also reacted, “City once had a shirt that didn’t have the badge on it and it still wasn’t as bad as this”, in a damning assessment of the yet-to-be-released jersey.
For now, it remains to be seen when Manchester City will choose to release the new third strip, although the edition is likely to be the final launch after a new away kit is revealed to supporters later this summer.
