Nottingham Forest have agreed a new four-year contract with defender Neco Williams.
Williams had just one year left on his previous deal, but positive talks with the club’s hierarchy led to a swift agreement on fresh terms.
The 23-year-old joined Forest from Liverpool for a fee of around £17 million in 2022 and has since become a vital part of the squad.
His ability to play in various roles across the backline has made him a valuable asset for Forest, especially during a campaign disrupted by injuries.
The long-term extension reflects Forest’s desire to build around key performers rather than overhaul the squad this summer.
Talks are continuing with Ola Aina, who is expected to sign a new long-term contract.
Aina triggered an option to stay for another season after joining on a free transfer, but Forest are eager to secure his services beyond that.
Both defenders played an important role in Forest’s solid finish to the 2024/25 campaign and will be central to their ambitions next season.
The club view their renewals as critical steps in maintaining squad continuity and avoiding the kind of late-window scramble that has hampered them in the past.
With pre-season approaching, Forest are eager to complete key business early. Locking in one of their standout players is a major statement of intent.
Williams’ new deal is expected to be officially announced in the coming days, confirming his status as a long-term pillar of Forest’s squad.
