Everton striker Neal Maupay is open to a move to the Serie A this summer, according to his agent Federico Pastorello.

Maupay came close to joining Serie A side Salernitana last summer, but Everton swooped in at the last minute to snap up the striker when Frank Lampard was still manager.

The 26-year-old has endured a hard time adjusting to life in Merseyside, with just one goal to show for his 20 Premier League appearances this season.

A change of managers has not favoured Maupay, with the Frenchman starting just four games since Sean Dyche took over at Goodison Park.

Maupay’s agent Pastorello has now hinted that his client could yet complete his move to the Italian top-flight following his struggles in Merseyside.

Pastorello told TuttoMercatoWeb: “We had strong negotiations with Salernitana- then he went to Everton.

“There was a technical change. We’re at the end of the season, and we’ll see what to do.

“You see Serie A as a place to go – we will work to accommodate him. There will probably be work for him to do in Italy.”

After Maupay joined the Toffees last summer from Brighton & Hove Albion on a three-year contract, Salernitana signed Boulaye Dia from La Liga club Villarreal.

The Senegalese striker has bagged ten goals and four assists in 24 games for the Italians and has proven to be a better investment than Maupay.

Maupay has played just five minutes in Everton’s last two games, with Dyche preferring Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Ellis Simms to lead the line.

Simms only returned to Goodison Park in January after his loan spell with Championship outfit Sunderland was cut short.

However, the 22-year-old striker has only needed six Premier League games to match Maupay’s goal tally after scoring the equaliser in the 2-2 draw against Chelsea last time out.
