The Roma squad have been to visit their teammate Evan Ndicka in hospital after he was stretchered off during Sunday’s Serie A match with Udinese with a worrying chest pains.

Ndicka collapsed to the floor after 72 minutes of action at the Stadio Friuli on Sunday evening, having clutched his chest in the moments prior. He was immediately seen to by medical staff and was rushed off the field of play on a stretcher to receive further treatment in privacy.

The match was then formally suspended and referee Luca Pairetto led the remaining players and coaching staff back down the tunnel.

In an earlier statement, Roma confirmed that Ndicka was conscious and that he had been taken to hospital. There was also a police escort to ensure he arrived at the facility as quickly and as smoothly as possible.

Sky Sport Italia then reported that Ndicka had been visited and spoken to by CEO Lina Soulokou, coach Daniele De Rossi and captain Lorenzo Pellegrini. Pellegrini then informed the rest of the squad of Ndicka’s condition.

Roma’s latest update confirms that Ndicka has been visited in hospital by his teammates.

“Evan feels better and is in good spirits. He will remain in hospital for further tests and observation,” a statement read on Sunday evening.

“Forza Evan!,” the statement concluded.
