Of the 13 players Burnley had on international break, five could be set to earn their place in the starting lineup this weekend.

Arijanet Muric, Josh Cullen, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Ian Maatsen, and Jordan Beyer all competed for their respective nations.

Cullen missed the second of Ireland’s games but only due to suspension so should be raring to go for Saturday’s fixture. Meanwhile, both Harwood-Bellis and Beyer enjoyed U21 action against each other in a friendly between England and Germany on Tuesday night.

A 2-1 victory over Bristol City last time out sent Burnley fans into a happy mood to end the month of September.

Win Draw Lose

Goals from Manuel Benson and Jay Rodriguez sealed all three points and they should retain their place in the starting lineup for the trip to Cardiff.

It is likely that Kompany will not tinker too much from the side that won against the Robins, with an unchanged XI the most probable outcome.

Charlie Taylor could push his way back into the starting team having been recovering from injury during the break.

But the likes of Ashley Westwood and Darko Churlinov both remain out of contention due to issues.
