Last weekend’s 7-0 victory over Spartans brought the Celtic FC Women’s team up to 80 league goals in 15 games this season, as they sit just one point off the top spot in the SWPL.
It’s a Celtic team currently flying high and full of confidence as they head into the final game of 2023 away to Hearts this Sunday (KO: 4.10pm).
With goals arriving from all areas of the pitch, Natalie Ross says the team are in a great place as they look forward to Sunday’s trip to Edinburgh.
Speaking ahead of the game she said: “We are really looking forward to it as in the game last weekend we dominated and it shows we are getting better, so we're feeling confident for Sunday.
“Seven goals scored and players coming off the bench and scoring gives us confidence. Training has been good this week and we are really looking forward to it.
“We’re all feeling we need a little break as it’s been a long but good last few months.
"We have improved as a team with a new squad of players and it’s never easy to embed those players.
'We’ve done well so far this season, so this game will top off a great year and a great start to the season if we win.'
Hearts away from home is always a tough test, as was proven last season with a tight 2-1 win. This season, the teams played out another extremely close contest with Celtic winning 3-2 after falling 2-0 behind.
The Scotland midfielder knows it won’t be easy to get that final victory of the year but believes the team are in the best possible position to grab three points.
She added: “We expect an aggressive team. Hearts always press us, especially on their own home pitch and you want to play against these good teams.
‘When we play better teams, we play better football and they will attack us and press us but we can handle that and we’re ready for it.’
“We know Hearts are a good team and that last game came off the back of our Champions League trip, so no excuses but it was a long few weeks.
“We’re ready for the game and we feel like we’re in a better place as a team and we are playing better football.”
