Napoli must assess Khvicha Kvaratskhelia ahead of their next Serie A game against Cagliari as the Georgian star played with ‘acute pain’ for his national team against Albania and was subbed off in the second half.

Napoli star Kvaratskhelia was subbed off in the second half of Georgia’s 1-0 win over Albania on Tuesday and will be assessed by Napoli doctors ahead of the upcoming away match at Cagliari.

“After picking up a knock in the first half, Kvara played with acute pain,” Georgia coach Willy Sagnol said at a post-match press conference on Tuesday.

“He wanted to play as much as possible. He’s a team player. We needed more movement on the pitch in the last 15-20 minutes, so we subbed in Zuriko, and he did well.”

Kvara was subbed off at minute 75 last night.

The Georgian ace is heading back to Naples, where Napoli doctors will assess him.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Partenopei hope Kvaratskhelia’s injury isn’t severe, but the 23-year-old must undergo checks before the next Serie A game in Cagliari on Sunday, September 15.

Kvaratskhelia has made four appearances across all competitions for Napoli this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist.

His contract at the Stadio Maradona runs out in June 2027.
