Napoli winger Piotr Zielinski hailed their grit for victory at AC Milan.

Eljif Elmas grabbed an early winner for Napoli on Sunday.

Zielinski said: “We suffered towards the end, but I am happy that we proved our character and won in a difficult arena. We're very happy.

“We are up there and we'll fight to the end for the Scudetto. It was an important win that can propel us forward, because even while missing so many players, we still proved that we can challenge anyone and are a great team."

The Pole, who wore the captain's armband, was back after being forced off clutching his chest a week ago against Empoli.

He added: “I feel fine. I've got a bit of a cough, but had no problems today. I am happy that I was able to help the team and the coach asked us to give our all."
