Paris Saint-Germain was linked to Napoli star Victor Osimhen throughout the summer, but the club ultimately chose not to make a move. Moreover, Chelsea failed in their last-minute swoop for the player, and now the striker’s career is in limbo.

While there’s still a chance that Osimhen could head to Saudi Arabia, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported on Friday that Chelsea hasn’t reached an agreement yet, and their delegation left Napoli without a deal.

L’ÉQUIPE also revealed that some within PSG were keen on pursuing Osimhen, especially after Gonçalo Ramos’ injury. However, the club decided to pass, with the French outlet adding that Luis Enrique wasn’t in favor of the move, feeling that Osimhen didn’t fit his vision and style.

With neither club landing the player before the summer transfer window closes on Friday, Napoli plans to integrate Osimhen into their project, which leaves his career in limbo for the moment.

“No player will be reintegrated,” manager Antonio Conte said (h/t GOAL). “Those who are out of the project will remain out of the project. We made our choices and work in one direction all together.”

If there’s no move to Saudi Arabia, the player will be out of action until the January transfer window.
