Napoli confirmed their Scudetto credentials with a heroic 2-1 home win against bitter rivals Juventus at Stadio Diego Maradona. Antonio Conte’s side fought back from a halftime deficit to inflict Juve’s first defeat in Serie A this season.

Winter arrival Randal Kolo Muani fired Juventus in front at the stroke of halftime. However, like in the game against Atalanta, Napoli turned the game on its head. Andre Frank-Zambo Anguissa scored a thumping header after Matteo Politano’s cross to initiate the comeback.

Only 12 minutes after the equalizer, Scott McTominay drew a penalty as Romelu Lukaku netted another crucial winner from the spot to temporarily extend Napoli’s lead on second-placed Inter to six points. It was Partenopei’s seventh league win on the trot and third at home.

Furthermore, Napoli have now won six consecutive home league meetings with Juventus, cementing their status as genuine title contenders. Without further ado, let’s look at our player ratings.

Napoli (4-3-3)

Alex Meret – 7

Kolo Muani’s volley caught him wrong-footed, yet the Italian goalkeeper pulled off a miraculous save to thwart Kenan Yildiz from close range beforehand.

Giovanni Di Lorenzo – 6.5

The Napoli captain fared reasonably well defensively, even though his attacking contribution was hardly noticeable.

Amir Rrahmani – 6

Had Kolo Muani not slipped his mark for the goal, it would’ve been a near-flawless evening for the Kosovo international. But he refused to let that faze him, demonstrating his aerial prowess after the break.

Juan Jesus – 6.5

Filling in for Alessandro Buongiorno is an arduous task, yet the Brazilian was up to the challenge. Dominant in the air and calm in possession, he held up his end of the bargain tonight.

Leonardo Spinazzola – 6.5

Despite several defensive mistakes early on, the Italian wingback was impressive, especially in the final third, showing his pace and tenacity to keep Juventus defenders busy all night.

Scott McTominay – 7

The ex-Manchester United proved vital for Napoli again, drawing a game-defining penalty. It was a fitting reward for another spirited performance from the highly-rated midfielder.

Stanislav Lobotka – 6

In addition to picking up a cheap booking, the diminutive playmaker wasn’t at the top of his game, struggling to impact the play and offer a spark in the center of the park.

Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa – 7.5

It was a well-deserved goal for the Cameroonian, who enjoyed another outstanding game under Conte. His physicality helped Napoli cope with Juventus’ star-studded midfield.

Matteo Politano – 7

His inch-perfect cross set Napoli up for the comeback. Moreover, he looked lively from the get-go, giving Weston McKennie a nightmare on his flank.

David Neres – 6.5

He must find composure in the crucial moments. Despite proving capable of beating his markers one-on-one time and time again, the final touch constantly let him down.

Romelu Lukaku – 7

Though the Napoli superstar wasn’t always at the thick of the action, he showed calmness when the stakes were highest to seal the deal for the Serie A pacesetters.
