Serie A pacesetters Napoli are reportedly on the verge of tying Uruguayan left-back Mathias Olivera down to a new contract. According to Calciomercato, the 27-year-old will soon put pen to paper on a fresh deal.
It’s only a mere formality. Olivera has already agreed to pledge his long-term future to Napoli. Though his current deal runs out in 2027, Antonio Conte’s men have accelerated extension talks with the player’s agent.
Therefore, Olivera will soon extend his contract until 2030, with Napoli ready to reward him with a salary boost. Indeed, he should earn around €2.2 million net per season for committing his loyalty to the club.
Olivera joined Napoli from Getafe in 2022. Though he wasn’t a first-choice left-back at first, Mario Rui’s fallout with Conte has established him as an indispensable first-team star.
However, Oliver has been on the sidelines since sustaining a calf injury in late January. It ruled him out of the last four Serie A matches, including a frustrating 2-2 draw at Lazio.
In addition to making strides in renewal talks with Olivera, Napoli could soon complete another significant piece of business. Brazilian loanee Natan has convinced La Liga outfit Real Betis to sign him permanently.
Natan switched to Estadio Benito Villamarin last summer after failing to secure regular first-team football at Napoli. Despite his struggles in Italy, he has excelled in Andalusia.
As such, Napoli could earn approximately €9m from Natan’s permanent transfer to the Spanish club.
