Napoli are evaluating defenders of different profiles ahead of the summer transfer window, with the Italian club looking to strengthen their defensive department.
According to a report from Corriere dello Sport, Napoli have started gathering interest in William Saliba. Considered one of the most skilled defenders in his age group, Saliba signed for Arsenal for a reported transfer fee of £27million in 2019.
But having failed to win Mikel Arteta’s faith, the defender moved back to France, joining Nice on loan for the second half of the 2020/21 season.
He returned to Arsenal last summer only to secure another loan move to Ligue 1, with Marseille being the recipient of his temporary services this time. The 21-year-old has made 50 appearances for the Ligue 1 outlet this season.
reported previously, club president Aurelio De Laurentiis is hopeful of receiving a significant bid from Barcelona and Chelsea for Kalidou Koulibaly.
