Despite the large sum received for Khvicha Kvaratshkelia, Napoli haven’t been able to bring in a replacement in a short amount of time and might ultimately settle with a flier, postponing a major signing to the summer.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Partenopei have continued to work on the Alejandro Garnacho deal, but the difficulties abound. Coach Ruben Amorin suggested he’d like to keep the player. Manchester United aren’t totally opposed to cashing in but only for a very substantial figure. Moreover, there’s no complete agreement with the attacker, who has asked for €4.5M plus add-ons, while the Azzurri proposed €1M less annually.
Napoli might not splurge and only grab a winger on loan to fill the hole. Rodrigo Riquelme could become an option as he’s not starring regularly at Atletico Madrid. He was close to Roma last summer.
PSV have rejected a €25M offer for Noa Lang. It remains to be seen whether the Partenopei will raise it. They are also considering Anderlecht’s Francis Amuzu and Al Alhi’s Allan Saint-Maximin, Fabrizio Romano reports. Instead Galeno, who was floated as a target, will head to Saudi Arabia, Sportitalia informs.
It’s fair to be ambitious, search for a gifted player, and not spend money just because, but it’d be a black eye if they didn’t land anybody of note. They should have jumped on Patrick Dorgu, as Lecce were eventually talked into selling right away. He’s a different type of player but would have been very useful and raised their ceiling.
