Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah is subject to interest from Serie A champions Napoli, the Telegraph reports.

Chalobah was recalled from his loan spell at Crystal Palace in January when Chelsea were reeling from an injury plague, and he fit in like a glove.

The 25-year-old returned to stamp his authority as a key player, helping Enzo Maresca’s side finish fourth and win the Europa Conference League.

Chalobah’s solid performances earned him a first senior England call-up, and he could make his debut in the World Cup qualifier against Andorra or the friendly clash against Senegal.

Working with Thomas Tuchel certainly improves his international prospects, but there are still question marks over his future at club level.

Chelsea appreciate how Chalobah handled his return to the fold and his performances since, but they can’t guarantee him regular football heading into next season.

Maresca is a massive fan of Wesley Fofana, who is expected to return from his lengthy lay-off to partner Levi Colwill at the heart of the Blues’ defence.

Chelsea still want to sign a centre-back, although they want a left-sided defender, so that wouldn’t affect Chalobah’s chances if he stays at the club.

They’ve been linked with Everton’s Jarrad Brathwaite and Palace skipper Marc Guehi. Nevertheless, a summer exit could still be on the cards for Chalobah, and Napoli are showing strong interest.

Conte wants to build a competitive squad ahead of Napoli’s title defence and Champions League return, and he sees Chalobah as a valuable addition.

The prospect of playing regular first-team football would appeal to Chalobah, although he has consistently expressed his desire to stay at Chelsea and fight for his place.

Chelsea are not actively looking to sell the Englishman, but they would respect his wishes if he wanted to leave the club this summer.
