Napoli are interested in signing Lorenzo Pellegrini in January.
The Italian midfielder has fallen out of the Giallorossi’s favor following his recent performances and lack of playing time under Claudio Ranieri.
He is now being linked with an exit from his boyhood club.
The precariousness of his moment has not gone unnoticed, and one of the most attentive clubs is Napoli.
Antonio Conte’s team, reinvigorated by the good performance in Serie A and led by an ambitious technical project, has identified Pellegrini as the right man to strengthen the squad, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
Sporting director Giovanni Manna is intensifying contacts with the player to convince him to embrace the Partenopei.
However, Napoli does not want to limit itself to a temporary loan. The club’s idea is to focus on Pellegrini also in the long term, with the possibility of activating an option and signing him at the end of the season.
For his part, Pellegrini is taking his time to evaluate Roma’s plans.
He does not intend to fill in a marginal role on the bench, but at the same time he wants to be certain of the project that awaits him. In the meantime, he has asked some close friends, including Spinazzola, Lukaku and Politano, with whom he has shared experiences between the national team and the club, for information on the Neapolitan environment.
A final decision, one way or the other, could arrive within the next week.
