Almada was part of La Albiceleste’s 2022 World Cup winning squad, getting the nod from manager Lionel Scaloni as a replacement for injured Joaquin Correa.

The 21-year-old has been in dazzling form in Major League Soccer this season, bagging four goals and five assists in six appearances.

He is among the best creative midfielders in the league and also has a reputation for scoring sensational free kicks.

Almada scored his maiden goal for the Argentine national team last month against Panama.

Having already received praise from compatriot Lionel Messi, Almada is considered the next big prospect from Argentina.

Despite attracting interest from some of Europe’s top clubs, Napoli have moved ahead in the transfer race for the former Velez Sarsfield star.

Almada could be a replacement for Piotr Zielinski, who has been heavily linked with an exit from Diego Maradona Stadium this summer.

The Polish midfielder’s deal expires in 2024, and he is reportedly against signing an extension.

The Partenopei have brought young talents such as Victor Osimhen, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Elif Elmas and Kim Min-jae to wider recognition, and Almada could be next.

Napoli may need to find a replacement for Osimhen, who has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Chelsea.
