Karim Adeyemi rejected Napoli in the January transfer window, even though Borussia Dortmund were ready to sanction his departure. According to Sky Sport Germany, the young gun has changed his entourage to secure a long-term stay at Signal Iduna Park.
Napoli tried to lure Adeyemi to Stadio Diego Maradona after offloading Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain in a blockbuster deal. Indeed, the Serie A leaders had earmarked the 23-year-old as a perfect replacement for the Georgian forward.
Dortmund would’ve allowed the former RB Salzburg starlet to join Napoli, only for the player to pull the plug on the transfer. Unimpressed by the Italian outfit’s proposal, he turned down a switch to Italy’s south coast. Furthermore, he’s reluctant to change his stance.
Roof Agency, in collaboration with Giuseppe Pisano and Andreas Ottl, will take care of Adeyemi’s interests. One of their first tasks will be to consolidate the lightning-fast forward’s elite status at the club. That’s the last thing Napoli would want to hear after failing to sign a reliable alternative to fill the void.
Napoli had been on the verge of signing Allan Saint-Maximin from Al-Ahli on loan for the rest of the season. However, the deal collapsed at the 11th hour, forcing Antonio Conte’s side to land Milan misfit Noah Okafor as an emergency solution.
Adeyemi wasn’t the only star winger linked with Napoli in the transfer window just gone. Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho was also on the club’s shortlist. But negotiations with the Red Devils never took off.
