Former Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne has today sent a public message to Victor Osimhen, amid the ongoing speculation surrounding the Nigerian’s future in Naples.

The name of frontman Osimhen has of course long taken its place front and centre in the Italian media headlines. This comes amid mounting reports that the 24-year-old could soon be on the move.

After starring en route to Napoli’s Scudetto triumph last season, Osimhen has piqued the attentions of a whole host of European football’s top clubs, from Arsenal to Chelsea to Paris Saint-Germain.

Ensuing drama stemming from Napoli’s social media activity then appeared to push the former Lille man ever further towards the exit door, with Osimhen’s agent having gone as far as to threaten legal action against the club.

In the end, no such lawsuit was forthcoming, but media speculation surrounding his future remains rampant nonetheless.

One individual, though, who feels that Osimhen should ‘think carefully’ before leaving Napoli for pastures new, comes in the form of Lorenzo Insigne.

Wide-man Insigne of course spent the bulk of his career lining out in Partenopei colours, before opting for a new adventure in MLS in the summer of 2022.

Speaking during an interview with Sky Italia today, he was in turn drawn on recent developments at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, with Osimhen’s future centre stage.

And the Toronto FC star went on to advise Napoli’s star man not to take his ex-club for granted, explaining:

“I would tell him to think carefully before leaving Napoli, because the emotional response you get here cannot be found elsewhere. The Scudetto is different in Naples compared to other clubs.”

Insigne continued:

“He will make the best decision for himself. I hope that he will remain at Napoli for a long time, and if the club has to make an extra effort on the contract, it is worth it, because there are few strikers as talented as he is.”
