Napoli close in on Udinese centre-back Nehuen Perez | OneFootball

Napoli are nearing the signing of Nehuén Pérez. The Argentinian centre-back has started all 19 Serie A games this season and has gained a lot of admirers.According to RAI (via CalcioNapoli24) Aurelio De Laurentiis has reassured Walter Mazzari that he will have reinforcements to turn around Napoli’s fortunes and a move is making progress. Pérez is only 23 but already has a wealth of experience. This is his third season in Serie A and he spent the 2020/2021 learning his trade in la Liga for Granada. When he was just 19 he started 23 league games in the Primeira Liga in Portugal. Atlético Madrid initially saw him as a prospect back in 2018 but he failed to ever get game time in Madrid.After three successful seasons at Udinese, he looks ready to make the step up to one of Europe’s top teams. Napoli could really do with him as their defensive performances this season are nowhere near as good as last year.Last season they only conceded 28 goals in the league, with the best defence in the division. This season, after 19 games, they have already conceded 24 goals which is only two less than 18th place Hellas Verona.
