Napoli head coach Walter Mazzarri was not shy in making his disappointment known on the back of his side’s latest defeat on Friday.

The reigning Scudetto holders, of course, marked their return to action a short time ago.

Desperate for a return to form on the back of just one win from five, Mazzarri and co. made the daunting trip to Turin, for a showdown with high-flying Juventus.

When all was said and done, however, Napoli, once more, came up short.

A solitary goal proved all that was required to condemn the Partenopei to defeat, Federico Gatti’s header making all the difference in a tight affair.

One individual evidently of the opinion that the final scoreline was not an accurate reflection of the 90 minutes at the Allianz Stadium, though, comes in the form of the aforementioned Mazzarri.

Speaking to Dazn (via TuttomercatoWeb), Napoli’s headmaster was adamant that his side were deserving of at least a share of the spoils in Turin.

In fact, Mazzarri – in possession of a concerning record of three defeats from four since his return – went as far as to claim that his side ‘dominated’ Juventus on their own turf:

“Those who know football know that there are moments, it’s difficult to give an explanation after a match like that.

“The boys dominated, forcing Juventus into their own half for almost the entire second-half. We just made the mistake of not going on the path to the goal and finding the man in the area. I think a team could do little more than Napoli. These are moments, I think that by playing like this we will be able to achieve some results.”
