According to Téléfoot, Jonathan Clauss (31) is expected to leave Olympique de Marseille this summer with both club and player open to ending their partnership.
Marseille reportedly wanted to sell the fullback late in the winter transfer window after they became convinced that he was more concerned about his place in France’s Euros squad than performing for Les Phocéens.
The timing of their decision so close to the end of the transfer deadline meant that there was no chance for a deal to be made, especially with Clauss unwilling to move during the middle of the season.
However, with a year left on his contract, and the summer window about to begin there is a better opportunity for both parties to find the right deal rather than a rushed ushering out the door.
Napoli are thought to be interested in the Frenchman, although Clauss is attracting interest from other Serie A clubs, as well as French and English teams. Still, no decision will be made until after the Euros.
