Leicester City midfielder Boubakary Soumare is the latest player linked with a move away from King Power Stadium following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.

L’Equipe reports that Serie A duo Napoli and Torino are considering the possibility of launching a bid to sign the former France under-21 international.

The 24-year-old midfielder set Leicester back around €20 million when he joined from Ligue 1 club Lille in 2021 but could be on the move again.

Soumare made 29 appearances across all competitions for Leicester last season, where the Foxes finished third from bottom at the end of a massively disappointing campaign.

Napoli and Torino can offer Soumare a route back to top-flight football, although neither club have opened negotiations for the Frenchman’s signature.

However, the former Paris Saint-Germain academy player has not decided where he wants to ply his trade in the coming season.

Napoli are in the market for a new midfielder to replace Lazio-bound Piotr Zielinski – although the Partenopei are yet to receive an acceptable offer to part ways with the Polish midfielder.

Zielinski has one year left on his contract, and Napoli are open to cutting ties with him. They have refused to lower their €30m demand and Lazio are reluctant to match their valuation.

Napoli manager Rudi Garcia is a huge fan of Soumare, which could prompt the club to launch a loan with an option to buy proposal.

Having missed out on a deal for former Olympique Lyon midfielder Lucas Tousart, who has joined Union Berlin, Garcia has switched his attention to Soumare.

Leicester will not stand in the player’s way if he pushes for a departure, with the Foxes keen to raise funds through player sales to bolster their recruitment drive.

Soumars is reportedly waiting for interest from potential suitors to become more concrete before deciding on his future.
