According to Ouest-France, FC Nantes are considering an audacious attempt to sign Stade Brestois midfielder Hugo Magnetti (25) this summer.
Magnetti has been, alongside Pierre Lees-Melou, a key element in Brest’s midfield. The 25-year-old made 30 Ligue 1 appearances last season and missed only one game across the whole domestic campaign as Les Ty Zéfs pulled off a historic feat. Not only will the Breton club compete in European football for the first time, they will compete in the UEFA Champions League no less after a final-day victory over Toulouse FC secured their place on the podium.
Brest’s players will garner interest this summer and even the allure of Champions League football may not be enough to retain some of them. Magnetti is one player that is garnering interest. Ouest-France understands that Antoine Kombouaré, who returned to Les Canaris towards the end of the season to save the club from relegation to Ligue 2, is a fan of Magnetti. Nantes are seriously considering signing Magnetti, however, they may have some convincing to do.
Not only would they have to tempt Magnetti away from Champions League football and towards a potential relegation battle, they would also have to convince Brest to part ways with an established member of the squad and one that only recently signed a contract extension until 2027.
