RMC Sport report this afternoon that Nantes full-back Jaouen Hadjam has decided to represent Algeria at international level, turning down the call-up from the French U21 team ahead of the upcoming international break.

The 19-year-old, who joined during the January transfer window from Paris FC, played two friendly games with the French U19 squad earlier this season.

He had received a preliminary call-up to represent Les Bleuets this month, but has instead responded favourably to Algeria manager Djamel Belmadi’s approaches, with Hadjam now in line for a senior call-up ahead of the team’s double header against Niger for their AFCON qualifying campaign.

The Paris native had been a regular for the Ligue 2 outfit since last season, where he came through the youth academy after spells at Paris Saint-Germain and then Créteil. His time in the top flight so far has seen him make eight appearances with Les Canaris, registering one assist. He is under contract with the Coupe de France holders until 2027.
