According to a report from Ouest France, Antoine Kombouaré is nearing his second exit from FC Nantes following the club’s 4-1 defeat to Stade Brestois on Sunday evening.
The experienced head coach has looked as if he has been walking a tightrope for some time with results going poorly since a promising start to the season. Kombouaré has managed to lift Nantes out of the relegation zone with a victory the weekend before over Stade Rennais, but the French outlet writes that the club hierarchy have lost confidence in him.
It would be the second time that Kombouaré would be provided his marching orders from La Maison Jaune after he was sacked in May 2023 and replaced with Pierre Aristouy. Who would replace Kombouaré this time round is still unclear, however, the club’s priority would be a reunion with Sérgio Conceição according to Ouest France.
Conceição had been linked with the West Ham United role but a victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers has given Julien Lopetegui some breathing space. Another option for Nantes would be Habib Beye, who has been linked with a lot of roles since leaving Red Star FC at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
