According to RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, FC Nantes centre-back Bastien Meupiyou (17) is on the radar of leading Premier League clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.
According to Hawkins, last year’s Ligue 1 runners-up RC Lens submitted a bid for the talented youngster in this transfer window, which was swiftly rejected by Les Canaris who are looking to extend his contract to ward off potential suitors or attract bigger offers from clubs with more financial resources.
Meupiyou has made just one appearance for Nantes thus far, pulling what is commonly known as a ” Jonathan Woodgate” and being sent off in the 9th minute of his debut against Olympique de Marseille back in September. He has made a combined 27 appearances across France’s U16, U17 and U18 teams, scoring three goals. He also participated in the U17 European Championship this year, playing every game for Les Bleuets as they suffered an agonizing penalty shootout defeat against Germany in the final.
