Julian Nagelsmann has addressed the media ahead of Bayern Munich’s DFL-Supercup clash with Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night.
This is the best of what we had to say.
“I send my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. Yesterday was a sad day for football. Gerd will be remembered forever. He played a lot of great games and scored countless goals. I wish strength for his family.”
“To win the first trophy would be nice. It’s an important game for us against an opponent who started the league very well. Of course, we’re trying to finally get a win.
“We would be happy if that happens tomorrow and are doing everything we can to achieve that.”
“I think everyone is fit. Corentin Tolisso is back now and played well with the Under-23 team. He trained really well with them and led the way.
“His two training sessions with us made a very big impression too. So with him, yes, we have everyone available.
“Lucas Hernández is training with the ball on the pitch today. He still needs to build up his fitness. Of course, we want him back as soon as possible but he needs time.”
“Lewy has proven over several years that he’s a world class striker. Erling hasn’t been in the Bundesliga long but he has great numbers.
“They are different types of strikers. Lewy is more experienced and I’m very happy to have him in my team.”
“I’m very happy with him. He had one dangerous occasion where he lost the ball [against Borussia Mönchengladbach]. He’s a very reliable player who communicates well and speaks a lot.
“He made a very good impression on me in pre-season and played well on Friday so he’s certainly an option for tomorrow.”
