Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann has been speaking to the media ahead of Sunday’s trip to Hertha BSC
Here’s what he had to say …
“The situation with Goretzka is well known, he won’t play. Stanišić is making good progress and will start training next week. We rested some players in training, Tolisso yesterday, Neuer today. Leroy has a slight problem. We’ll decide after tomorrow’s training
“That’s more of a coincidence. We didn’t always play exceptionally well in Berlin. Niklas Süle once scored a goal from 40 meters there (with Hoffenheim). When you have a positive record, you should make sure it stays that way.
“They have tended to play with the same formation, but recently switched it up a bit in the Pokal. They have two very good players in Richter and Serdar. Overall, they don’t tend to play as many long balls as they used to previously.”
“He did well on the right too. It’s not certain yet. The centre-backs were out for a long time. If Lucas [Hernandez] and Upamecano won’t have any problems tomorrow, Benji [Pavard] will move to the right again. I like to see Josh in both positions.”
“He can also play left-back. Of course, he’s a bit different offensively compared to Phonzy. We have several options. Our game plan does not depend on one player.”
“I don’t know if there are talks being held. Manu still has a contract here, which I’m very happy about. He’s an outstanding goalkeeper. He will keep this quality for a few more years. I’m glad he’s our goalkeeper.”
“As long as Manuel Neuer plays like this, it’s difficult for any keeper in the world to get past him.
“Manuel is still the best goalkeeper because he is very consistent in every aspect of the game. I can’t imagine him slowing down anytime soon”
“I think many Bundesliga players are good. You always have to discuss players who are free agents. I have to also say that this is media speculation.”
“He’s still injured and unfortunately couldn’t really get going. He has some catching up to do physically so that he can bring in the qualities he has. He’s an outstanding footballer. I’ll be happy when he’s healthy again.”
