“Lucas Hernández, Kingsley Coman, Bouna Sarr and Paul Wanner are out. The rest are available.

“Coman could be integrated back into the team next week but I don’t know whether he’ll be available for the Champions League game or Dortmund.

“Hernández will be out for even longer.”

On self-criticism

“It’s always important to question yourself. I watched all the games again and did a lot of analysis. We discussed everything with the team today because we had everyone available in training after the international break. I’m confident that we’ll play a good game tomorrow.

“I take every criticism to heart when it’s brought to my attention. Every one of us must feel responsibility and I feel it too. I know that I invest a lot for the job. I’m not responsible for everything, the players aren’t either. It’s a team game.

“I definitely was not in a good mood after Augsburg. I reflect on the things that I can do better and try to do better the next day. Ultimately, I want to win the Bundesliga and also go far in the Pokal and the Champions League.”

On Sadio Mané and Joshua Kimmich criticism

“I speak to all players individually. In the end, it’s the player’s job to implement what the coach tells him to do. Then [Mané] will quickly find his way back to top form, I’m confident that he will.

“With Josh, everyone can express their opinion. He’s an extremely important player for us and for the national team. Like everyone, he has things he is good at and things he can work on. It’s important the player knows what he has to do.”

“Leverkusen are also in a difficult situation. But they have an outstanding squad and a very good coach. It will be a top game, even though the results and table may say differently at the moment.”

On difference between team in Bundesliga and CL

“I don’t think we’re showing two faces. Against Barcelona, we could’ve gone behind early on. In the first games we scored early goals.

“It’s just the momentum that we used at the beginning of the season and not anymore lately.”
