The Julian Nagelsmann era got off to a winning start after Germany rallied to beat the USA 3-1 on Saturday.
Scorers: Pulisic 27â˛; GĂźndoÄan 39â˛, FĂźllkrug 58â˛, Musiala 61â˛
It was a thriller at Rentschler Field as both sides hunted for the opener, though the Americans initially seemed slightly more determined than the visitors.
Captain Christian Pulisic opened the scoring after beating Jonathan Tah for pace on the left wing and curled home from outside the box beyond both Antonio RĂźdiger and Marc AndrĂŠ Ter-Stegen.
Yet just before the break, it was the USAâs turn to be cut apart as Germany (who were without an ill Joshua Kimmich) left the hosts ball-watching.
Leroy SanĂŠ dizzied four defenders before forcing Matt Turner into a slight save, but Ä°lkay GĂźndoÄan was in the right place to stab home the equaliser.
Something must have been said in the dressing room at the break as Germany responded with a statement. Two quick goals in three minutes put the game out of reach for the USA (who opted to sit back during the second 45).
Niclas FĂźllkrug was left unmarked in the box and stabbed home from point-blank range for the lead. In the blink of an eye, he then turned provider as Jamal Musiala added a third, also from point-blank range.
The BVB centre-forward now has eight goals and two assists in 10 games for the national team.
Gregg Berhalter will wonder what went wrong for the USA, as they lost all their momentum in the second half with virtually zero influence coming off the bench. They finished the game with three shots on target from five (the visitors had seven from 19).
Germany, meanwhile, picked up their first win under new manager Julian Nagelsmann.
