NAC Breda have confirmed they have sacked head coach Robert Molenaar, Eerste Divisie side have confirmed.
The club announced on their website they have relieved Molenaar’s duties, whose contract was due to expire at the end of the season anyway. Poor results have led to Molenaar’s sacking with the side hoping to be challenging for promotion back to Eredivisie since they were relegated for the Dutch top tier back in 2019.
The statement reads: “The reason for the decision to interrupt the contract is that there is insufficient confidence in the trainer-coach within the organization of NAC.
“As a result of the game shown and the results delivered in the first half of the season, there is too little support for Molenaar as a successful technical manager in the first team during the second half of the season. In that part of the competition, NAC wants to enforce participation in the playoffs.
“Robert Molenaar’s duties will be taken over by assistant Ton Lokhoff for the time being.”
