With NAC Breda on the eve of their second consecutive season in the Eredivisie, Carl Hoefkens and Boy Kemper are hungry for more. However, at the same time, they don’t want to lose sight of their core values.

“We need to become more of a football-oriented team.” Voetbal International’s Marco Timmer recapped the Breda pairs’ thoughts ahead of 2025-26.

Hoefkens believes NAC can become more dominant in the long run. “Without wanting to be like Barcelona,” the coach adds. “We do have to take steps in that direction. Will that be easy? No. Because we must never lose sight of our core values. We must always exude passion, a do-it-yourself mentality, and the will to win.”

Kemper, who could well take over the captain’s armband from the departed Jan Van den Bergh, agrees. “I’m convinced we can deliver more than last season. In the last 10 games, we haven’t had the same level and strength as before. We know that. We were a powerhouse, but we need to become a more football-oriented team. We’ve been working on that since day one.”
