The news of Collins’ contribution was revealed by Terry Baker, Greaves’ agent. Collins is a Tottenham fan and views the former striker as his boyhood hero.

Baker has also given an unencouraging update regarding Greaves’ condition. In spite of that, let’s hope that he gets better in the coming days and recovers soon.

“No news is good news at the moment.”

Collins also phones Baker regularly to enquire about Greaves’ condition. Nobody has scored more top-flight goals in English football than the 80-year-old, who was a part of England’s legendary 1966 World Cup-winning squad.

Greaves started off his football career at Chelsea before moving to AC Milan. He then returned to England with Tottenham in 1961 and went on to score an impressive 266 goals in 379 competitive appearances. (h/t Standard)

He enjoyed a fruitful stay at White Hart Lane and ended up winning two FA Cups and a Cup Winners Cup with Tottenham. Incidentally, it was his injury in the World Cup in 1966 that brought Geoff Hurst into the starting line-up. Hurst went on to score a hattrick in the final against West Germany and the rest is history.

  1. Daniel Levy not keen on splashing the cash on Alex Grimaldo
  2. Tottenham fans react to links with Geoffrey Kondogbia
  3. Real Madrid willing to part with two stars to sign Harry Kane

Greaves is a true footballing legend for both Tottenham Hotspur and England. We hope he can make a quick recovery soon. We would also like to express our admiration for Collins, who turned up to help his hero when it was most needed.
