Lily Murphy says the culture created at Manchester City is one which players enjoy and thrive in.
The pacey winger has penned a two-year contract extension with the Club which will keep her at the Joie Stadium until the summer of 2027.
Having joined our Academy in 2022, she worked her way through our youth system and into our first-team last season when making 22 appearances.
Across those outings she registered two goals and two assists, showing why she’s been tipped as an exciting talent for the future.
And after signing her contract extension, she explained how she’s relishing the challenge to show further improvement.
“It’s an amazing feeling, this is what I’ve worked towards – getting this extension – and I’m looking forward to this season,” she declared.
“It’s a proud moment for me and my family, it’s just what I’ve always dreamed of. To stay at this amazing club, it’s what I’ve always wanted.
“It’s my childhood club so I’ve got a certain love for it, and I just love coming in every day training and I love all the staff and coaches.
“It’s an amazing environment to be in.”
Before making her City senior debut in a 5-0 Champions League qualifying win over Paris FC, Murphy was a member of the side who travelled to Australia on our pre-season tour in 2024.
Stepping into the senior environment for the first time, the blisteringly quick winger explained how every player and staff member helped her settle into her new surroundings from that point.
And she paid special tribute to Lauren Hemp and Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw for their mentorship so far.
Murphy added: “I’d say all the senior players are amazing off and on the pitch. They just encourage you and they want the best out of you every day.
“Specifically, I’d say Lauren Hemp, Bunny Shaw and even in the gym they’re really helpful and they just push us all the time.”
