The race to sign Martin Ødegaard is heating up.

Real Madrid reportedly gave the Norwegian permission to speak to other clubs this week, with the playmaker set to leave the club on loan again.

Ødegaard spent 2019/20 on loan with Real Sociedad and they are the favourites to sign him again this window.

According to Noticias de Gipuzkoar, local media in San Sebastián, Sociedad could face competition from Sevilla as well as a number of Bundesliga clubs. Bayer Leverkusen showed an interest in the player last summer.

There could be a catch, though, with the report adding that Zinedine Zidane could yet veto a move. He has only used the 22-year-old in seven LaLiga games so far this season and for just five minutes in LaLiga since the end of November.

However, Zidane could still block a move and is reportedly yet to give Ødegaard the green light.

Diario AS, though, report that the player has already contacted Real Sociedad and both parties are in favour of a return.

The midfielder managed four goals and six assists in LaLiga last season and could be one of the biggest names to move clubs this January.
