Chelsea will welcome Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening as they try to collect maximum points at home in the Premier League. The Blues were held to a 2-2 draw by Everton before the international break, so they would be desperate to get back to winning ways in this league clash at home.

Graham Potter will set his men up in a 3-4-2-1 formation and could be inclined to make a couple of changes for this game. Both Mykhailo Mudryk and Marc Cucurella will get a chance to give a good account of themselves from the start of this contest in West London.

Defence

Kepa Arrizabalaga will operate in between the sticks for the Villans after shipping in a couple of goals in his last outing. Potter will opt for a back three of Marc Cucurella, Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana as they try to keep things tidy at the back during the 90 minutes.

Benoit Badiashile will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.

Midfield

Mateo Kovacic and Enzo Fernandez will operate as the holding midfielders as they focus on dominating the game at the centre of the park and engineer some decent chances for their teammates in the opponent’s half.

Ben Chilwell will get a chance to impress as the left-sided wide player while Reece James could fill in as the right wing-back.

Joao Felix and Kai Havertz are expected to play as the attacking midfielders for the Blues in the final third. Both of them have to make some clever runs in and around the Aston Villa penalty box if Chelsea want to score enough goals to win this game this weekend.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Conor Gallagher will have to be content with a spot on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the second half if needed.

Attack

Mykhailo Mudryk will function as Potter’s primary centre-forward up top. He has to put his pace to good use on the attacking third of the pitch and would carry most of the goal-scoring burden for the home side this Saturday.

Christian Pulisic will be named on the bench as he waits for his chance to make an impact in the final quarter if required.
