West Brom got back to winning ways on Friday night as they edged past Birmingham City 1-0 at the Hawthorns.

It was a tight affair between the West Midlands sides, with Birmingham creating the better chances in the game.

West Brom restricted Birmingham City to just 33% possession but struggled to carve Lee Bowyer’s side open at times. Scott Hogan and Ivan Sunjic both missed great chances in the second half and had they put one of them away to make it 1-0, it could have been a different game.

Have West Brom had a higher or lower average attendance compared to these 23 sides this season?

However, it wasn’t to be as Karlan Grant was the difference for Valerien Ismael’s side. He cut inside in the 75th minute before firing a powerful shot into the bottom corner past Blues keeper’ Sarkic.

The attacker now has four goals in the last four games and has started to hit top form for the Baggies. He scored fifth of the season on Friday night and is proving to be a talisman having started the season slowly.

Grant’s goal was the difference and Baggies fans certainly showed their appreciation, lauding the forward for his display on Twitter.

Here’s what they had to say.
