West Ham coach David Moyes spoke to the media ahead of the club’s match against Cypriot side AEK Larnaca in the Europa Conference League on Thursday.
Here are some of the gaffer’s responses.
“Defeats are never a good thing, but in the main since we’ve come back from the World Cup, results have steadily gone up the way rather than down the way.
“The game at Old Trafford took a lot out of us and it was always going to be a tough game at Brighton. You have to move on and we have a great opportunity in this tie.”
“I’m expecting an incredibly tough game from a side who have good momentum in their league. They have an experienced team, and a team who have played quite a lot in Europe.
“From that point of view they’re a side who have experience in these competition and in football you never know. I’m going into this as if we’re playing any other team. We’ve played good teams from Belgium and elsewhere and we’ll treat it as we’ve treated all of our other games.”
“The difference we see in this is this is something we’ve done for most of last season and we know that Thursday-Sunday football is never a brilliant situation, but all clubs in the top half of the Premier League want to get in these competitions. We want to stay in it as long as we can and win it if possible.”
Kickoff from the AEK Arena is at 18:45 on Thursday.
