According to Sky Sports, Chelsea winger Willian is closing in on a new contract with the club.
The 31-year-old was not short of suitors but now Chelsea have achieved a breakthrough over a new contract for the forward.
The Brazilian was due to leave Stamford Bridge on a free transfer after holding out for a three-year deal, while Chelsea have only offered a two-year extension.
Frank Lampard was keen to keep the winger on at Stamford Bridge. His wish looks to be coming true. Willian joined the club in 2013 and has since proved himself to be a key player for us. He has since made 339 appearances, scoring 63 goals and assisting 62.
An experienced veteran, he will add much to what is a youthful Chelsea squad. Despite being in his 30s, he still has a couple of good seasons left in him.
Willian showed his ability as he played a leading role in Chelsea’s victories after the restart. His matchwinning abilities will be a boon for Lampard.
Chelsea fans have shown mixed feelings on the topic. We take a look at some of the reactions below.
