Goal are reporting that Moussa Diaby (24) has opted to join Premier League side Aston Villa over Al-Nassr. The Frenchman will sign a five-year deal with the club.
As reported by RMC Sport on Wednesday, Aston Villa have reached an agreement in principle over the signing of the Bayer Leverkusen forward. The deal is reportedly worth around €50m, including bonuses. Despite that agreement, Diaby’s future remained unclear due to Al-Nassr’s interest. The Saudi club had already submitted an offer, which was then improved upon, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Diaby was therefore left with a decision to make, and according to Goal, he will now sign for Aston Villa. The Frenchman, who will have his sights set on featuring at Euro 2024, is set to sign a five-year deal with the Premier League club.
Diaby’s stay in Bundesliga now looks to be coming to an end. Following his departure from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2018, Diaby has played 172 games for Bayer Leverkusen, scoring 49 goals and registering 48 assists.
L’Équipe and RMC Sport have confirmed Goal’s reporting, the latter adding that the French winger will undergo his medical with Aston Villa in the coming days after rejecting the big-money move to Saudi Arabia.
