Jose Mourinho interested in signing Inter Milan midfielder Christian Eriksen on loan at Tottenham Hotspur

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano (h/t Daily Mail), Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho wants to bring Christian Eriksen back to London in a loan deal this month.

Eriksen left Spurs to join Inter Milan for £25million in January last year. Things, however, have not turned out well for him in Italy.

He has also made just 4 Serie A starts this season for Inter as manager Antonio Conte has found other options for his starting XI. The Italian is also willing to offload the midfielder this window, and Spurs are also not the only club interested in him.

A potential return on the cards?

Mourinho has managed Eriksen before. The Portuguese manager took over the helm at Spurs in November 2019, just a couple of months before the former Ajax midfielder departed for Serie A.

Earlier this season, Gareth Bale also made a sensational return to Tottenham. The winger was signed on a loan deal and has done fairly well since his return.

It remains to be seen if Mourinho actually does make a formal approach for the playmaker. Spurs do have a stacked midfield but a player of Eriksen’s quality would surely strengthen the team even further.

Eriksen would also want to keep his match fitness up and remain in top shape before Denmark participate in the UEFA European Championship in the summer.
