Roma manager Jose Mourinho met with the media today to discuss his team’s crucial league clash tomorrow against Frosinone.

The Giallorossi currently sit 16th in the Serie A table with just five points through their first six matches and are coming off a nightmare performance against Genoa. The Giallorossi host Frosinone and ex-manager Eusebio Di Francesco at the Stadio Olimpico tomorrow evening just days after their nightmare 4-1 defeat to il Grifone in Liguria.

“How does Roma reset after Genoa? We want to win, we must win,” stated Jose Mourinho to start his pre-match press conference.

“We’re not looking for excuses or evade responsibility. We played three games before the transfer window closed and I think that left a noticeable burden on many players.”

“However, I thought that burden would disappear once the window closed then we got results against Empoli and the Europa League.”

He continued, “The last-minute draw in Torino didn’t happen under normal conditions given all the upsets we’ve seen so far across Serie A with smaller teams getting a result against superior sides.”

“In normal conditions, everything would’ve been positive after that game but it was opposite. I expected continuity and improvement against Genoa but that’s not what happened.”

“Everything got worse for us when we tried it from moving Cristante to the back, switching to a four-man defence, and so on. Initially it looked like we could get a draw but instead they score on a dead ball situation then a fourth comes just after that.”

The Special One was also asked about his job status and if he’d be open to extending his contract, which expires in June.

“Three months ago I told the fans, the players, and the president that I would stay. This summer I received a crazy job offer which I refused because of my word.”

“But if you look today, it seems that I am the problem, which I don’t accept. I’m not the problem (with the team thus far). There’s so many factors things depend on in football, you can’t say one single person is responsible.”

“These are things that happen within a club, a company, or even an educational body. I gave my word to this club and I’m going to be here every single day fighting for the players, club, and supporters.”

“Only one person can tell me everything is over before 30-June and that’s Dan Friedkin, he’s the only one that can tell me to go away. If I’m not told that then I’ll be here with my players working for this club.”

“I’m not afraid of external pressure, whistles, boos. I don’t watch the television but sometimes things that are said get back to me.”

Adding, “I’m easy to find: I’m always at Trigoria except when I go out to dinner or go to a hotel for one or two days. Otherwise, I’m always here.”

“There’s neither fear nor lack of confidence, tomorrow I’ll be at the stadium with my players—together just like always as it’s been since day one. We’ll take full responsibility for what may happen before, during, and after the game.”

“The only thing on our minds tomorrow will be winning because the team needs it.”
