Jose Mourinho reportedly could try to bring Tanguy Ndombele from Tottenham Hotspur to Roma this summer.
According to a report from Calciomercato, the Roma manager is keen on signing the Tottenham flop in the summer transfer window.
Tottenham signed Ndombele from Lyon in 2019 for around £52 million, according to BBC Sport.
Mourinho took over at Spurs three months later, but the Frenchman struggled in north London before being sent back to Lyon on loan in January 2022 and then to Napoli last summer.
He could now be set for another move away from Tottenham.
Calciomercato claim the 26-year-old could be set to head out to Serie A this summer. However, a possible move to Roma does not make much sense.
During his time as Spurs manager, Mourinho criticised Ndombele for not showing effort. He also suggested he could not keep giving him opportunities (talkSPORT).
On that basis, it would seem slightly strange if the Portuguese brought him to Roma this summer. A return to another Italian club, maybe Napoli again, would make more sense.
What is clear to see is that Ndombele does not have a future at Tottenham under Ange Postecoglou. He has been a huge disappointment for Spurs since joining for a mammoth fee four years ago.
It’s time for Tottenham to recoup some of that money and sell him permanently.
He only has two years remaining on his current deal in north London, so now will be the time to act for Daniel Levy if he wants to get maximum value for the midfielder.
