Jose Mourinho was not happy with his players’ attitude earlier tonight as Roma failed to get a win against Servette.
The Giallorossi came out with only a 1-1 draw to show for tonight’s effort. Slavia Praha’s 3-2 win over Sheriff Tiraspol practically seals Roma’s fate – Mourinho’s men will likely have to compete in the playoffs for the second consecutive time.
In his post-match interview with Roma TV, Mourinho reflected on this possibility.
“It was a difficult match due to the pitch, because we made it more difficult for ourselves than it really was. It often happens that you win the first half and start the second with a different attitude, the opponent scores a goal and afterwards you have a reaction that could change the outcome of the game, but the second goal never comes.”
“It’s not a tragedy to finish second in the group, but an annoyance, if you see another perspective it’s also nice because you play the return leg at the Olimpico against a strong team that comes from the Champions League, it will be another European night in Rome.
“The real tragedy is that there are players who don’t take opportunities with their hands, there are people who go to the bench in this type of match and come in without the right concentration. We already made the playoffs last year and it wasn’t a tragedy for us, I think the Champions League team that will eventually draw Roma won’t be happy.”
