Portugal could repeat their Euro 2016 heroics after qualifying into the knockout stages after finishing third in Group F.
And our Man of the Match was …
Let’s get one thing out of the way: Renato Sanches we apologise PROFUSELY – but Cristiano Ronaldo *has* to take this award.
The Lille midfielder was faultless for Portugal but when they needed somebody, somebody to step up and make those match-defining impacts it was Ronaldo yet again.
His overall impact on the game was quiet but wow – imagine those nerves to take not just one, but two penalties with your country’s progression at stake.
Not only did he score twice, the 36-year-old broke one record and equalled another to take his career up another level.
There is no bigger man for the big occasion.
