Jan Bednarek (Poland)

Poland shocked Spain by coming from behind to hang on to a deserved point courtesy of Robert Lewandowski’s second half equaliser.

But the Bayern Munich striker wasn’t the main star of the show for Paulo Sousa’s side, as the Polish back three and goalkeeper produced stunning performances to keep out the three-time European champions.

In particular, Jan Bednarek was a one-man wall determined to inflict pain on Spain.

The Southampton centre-back was impenetrable in the air, with the ball seemingly attracted to his head like a magnet.

The 25-year-old won five of his four ground duels, made seven clearances, helped out with three interceptions and won four tackles to keep Álvaro Morata et al at bay.

There was examples of everything you want from a defensive performance on show in Seville from Bednarek, right down to throwing his body on the line in the six yard box.

Lewandowski’s equaliser means Poland still have a chance of qualifying for the last-16 going into the final day but a lot of the credit will be passed on to Bednarek, Kamil Glik and Wojciech Szczęsny.
