With one game still to be played, there have already been five missed penalties in this Serie A round, something that hadn’t happened for 63 years.

The last time this many penalties were not converted in a single round was Week 11 in the 1960-61 campaign.

At the time, those mistakes were for Juventus, Napoli, Torino and two for Lecco.

Nico Gonzalez scuffed his attempt straight at Yann Sommer in Fiorentina’s 1-0 defeat to Inter this evening, making it five failed spot-kicks in Week 22.

Milan take the lion’s share of the blame, as they somehow managed to waste two penalties in the 2-2 draw with Bologna, with Olivier Giroud and Theo Hernandez.

Nikola Krstovic got it all wrong for Lecce against Genoa, while Ondrej Duda missed his for Hellas Verona against Frosinone.

Verona have by far the worst individual spot-kick record in Serie A this season, converting only two of their total six attempts.

There were mistakes by Milan Djuric (twice), Thomas Henry and Duda.
